Los Angeles Train Musems

Los Angeles Train Museums

December 20, 2015

A few weeks ago right before Christmas my children and I went out on a little field trip and went to Walt Disney's Carolwood Barn, which is this awesome little museum filled with many Walt Disney items that focus on his love of trains. While trying to find this place we got lost (a couple of times) and finally found a place we thought was right, but was actually the Travel Town Railroad, which is a little park/museum where you can see old steam trains and a couple of old vehicles. Though this wasn't the location we were looking for we walked around and saw the cool things they had to offer. After asking for directions, we found our way to Carolwood which happened to be right down the road. Once we found it we realized it is attached to another museum called the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum. We then went to Walt Disney's barn and met many lovely volunteers who were willing to answer any questions we had on their running exhibit which happened to be about the 60th anniversary of Disneyland and the railroad system they have there. My children also go to meet Santa and we got to donate toys for toys for tots. Sadly I don't think the Disneyland exhibit is running anymore, but I am sure they still have some amazing things for any Disney lover to look at. After checking everything out there, we went to the Live Steamers Museum so we could ride this mini train that takes you all around the Live Steamers and Carolwood property along with showing you a little glimpse of the Travel Town Museum as well. Everything at these locations is free except for the ticket to ride the mini train which was worth it. If you are a Disney lover or train lover or just want somewhere to take your kids these locations are wonderful.
